Everyone has a story that can be told by a piece of jewelry. This story to describe us and our past. Hence a story to explain our hopes and passions, a story in response to questions about who we are and why.  Every story is special and necessary and serves as a piece of something bigger.  Therefore by sharing our stories, we can vicariously experience places and people whom we have never known and may never meet with our own eyes.  Through stories we can learn about ourselves and the world.

In the jewelry making in Egypt you may find the reflection of her age-long history. Egypt, the cradle of civilization, is also the cradle of the arts and the home of craftsmanship. The race that wrought the glorious monuments of Pharaonic and Islamic architecture is no less remarkable in the skill it brings by craftsmen nowadays.

Islamic calligraphy is the artistic practice of handwriting and calligraphy. It is therefore based upon the alphabet in the lands sharing either a common Islamic or cultural heritage. Hence it includes Arabic, Ottoman, and Persian calligraphy. They call the Islamic writing khatt Islami in Arabic, which means Islamic line, design, and construction. The development of Islamic calligraphy is also strongly tied to the Quraan.

The Arabic saying, “Purity of writing is purity of the soul” vividly describes the status of the master calligrapher in Islamic society. Arabs believed that only a person of spiritual devotion and clear thought could achieve the skill for this supreme art. The most talented of calligraphers attained honorable positions as either scribes in the Imperial Palace or as teachers of Imperial rulers. Three great calligraphers from Baghdad founded the Islamic calligraphy; the Vizier Ibn Muqla (886–940) of the Abbasid court, Ibn al-Bawwab, and Yakut al-Musta’simi of Amasya (d. 1298).

Like all our other exquisite jewelry, this necklace is handcrafted, and highly detailed by our talented craftsmen. It is also top quality and made to last a lifetime. Furthermore it bears the 925 silver stamp for authenticity purposes.

the length of this lovely piece is adjustable 50 cm to 57 cm.
