One of our finest pieces is the Arabic calligraphy pendant with tangled small pendants. With the combination of the old Arabic calligraphy and the modern design this is simply a piece of art.
Islamic calligraphy is the artistic practice of handwriting and calligraphy. It is therefore based upon the alphabet in the lands sharing either a common Islamic or cultural heritage. Hence it includes Arabic, Ottoman, and Persian calligraphy. They call the Islamic writing khatt Islami in Arabic, which means Islamic line, design, and construction. The development of Islamic calligraphy is also strongly tied to the Quraan.
The Arabic saying, “Purity of writing is purity of the soul” vividly describes the status of the master calligrapher in Islamic society. Arabs believed that only a person of spiritual devotion and clear thought could achieve the skill for this supreme art. The most talented of calligraphers attained honorable positions as either scribes in the Imperial Palace or as teachers of Imperial rulers. Three great calligraphers from Baghdad founded the Islamic calligraphy; the Vizier Ibn Muqla (886–940) of the Abbasid court, Ibn al-Bawwab, and Yakut al-Musta’simi of Amasya (d. 1298).
Like all our other exquisite jewelry, this pendant is handcrafted, and highly detailed by our talented craftsmen. It is also top quality and can last for a lifetime. Furthermore it bears the 925 silver stamp for authenticity purposes.
